Web Services Newsletter - July 2006 |
|
Have I got news for you...Some of you have been with me eight years, while others only eight weeks. As many of you know, ReadyHosting, for whom I am a reseller, was purchased back in January and is now ReadyHosting LLC. While I (and I am sure others) was not at first pleased about the sale and subsequent service changes, I have to admit that they have added numerous features which can benefit you and your web site and, I guess, was a fair trade for the few features which were lost. It is these new features that I would like to highlight now. THIS NEWSLETTER!Through your member's control panel, you now have a full featured newsletter capability including the HTML codes to add sign-up fields to your web site. The newsletter can be sent in both HTML and TEXT formats and is no more difficult than creating a web page. For more information, visit the member's control panel at www.readyhosting.com/member using your User Id and account password to log on. Simply follow the step-by-step instructions to create a mailing list (or lists) and your newsletter. The Member's Control Panel, you ask...Below is a screen shot of the control panel. From it, you can manage all aspects of your account including emails, search the knowledge base, submit a support ticket, and more. (Sorry the picture is small, but I did not a want newsletter the size of a web site.) So, what else can you do from here?
You can also manage certain administrative functions of your account, however, billing and domain name matters are to be directed to me. No More FrontPage Search EngineThough ReadyHosting supports FrontPage extensions, they no longer support the search engine feature. Never fear - I have found a search engine program which will create search engines in PHP, ASP, JAVASCRIPT and CGI. If you would like me to create a search engine for your site, just let me know. Otherwise, if you are planning on buying a search engine program, I strongly suggest ZOOM from Wren Soft. The license is unlimited so you can use it for as many sites as you need. Visit them at http://www.wrensoft.com/ Just mentioning - If you plan on creating a disk-based web for off-line use, this search engine will allow you to include a search feature when the search engine is created using JavaScript. With the add-ons, it also searches .txt, .doc, .pdf, and other file formats. So, what else is new...With growth comes additional employees, so I have hired a part-time assistant, Steven Dussault. Steven assists with building new sites and some minor site maintenance. Occasionally you may hear from Steven in place of me, so do not be surprised. Contact InfoNeed to call: 724-639-3957. Welcome To Our Newest CustomerI would like to welcome David Bragg and his company Mask U.S. as Cenlyt's newest customer. Mask U.S. manufacturers custom mascots which can be purchased on-line at www.maskus.com or www.mascots-by-maskus.com. If you or someone you know is in need of a mascot, contact David at Dave@MaskUS.com or call 1-800-835-5767. And when you visit Google, you can find Mask U.S. product on Google's search engine FROOGLE. And though not technically a new customer...Valerie Murray and her company United Mask & Party Manufacturing, Inc., in Sebring Florida, has been with Cenlyt for a long time. Recently we launched another web site Masks, Wigs and Costumes at www.masks-wigs-and-costumes.com. This e-commerce site is only days from going live and will provide its visitors with, as the name implies, Masks, Wigs and Costumes for all occasions. PayPal© and YOU
